Positioned in the heart of Marsala Hotel Carmine offers excellent accommodation and the perfect location from where to explore the treasures of Western Sicily and its islands. Recently refurbished this ancient palazzo has been turned into a classy and elegant three star hotel.

The owners have restored the original building using a wonderful combination of original materials and modern techniques. The final result is a relaxing atmosphere with spacious and well equipped rooms. The reception is welcoming and the communal spaces are truly special for a three star hotel.

The bar opens out onto the walled garden and from Spring onwards one can enjoy a drink before or after dinner in one of the many restaurants which abound in Marsala. Breakfast is either served inside or in the garden and is fit for a king. A wide choice of homemade cakes will ensure that lunch will be a late one.

Marsala is famous for its sweet dessert wine and visits to local vineyards can be organised. The town is well placed for exploring this fascinating region. Trapani is just a short drive away and from here you can catch ferries across to the Egadi islands and to the beautiful island of Favignana.

The salt fields close to Trapani are spectacular and the towns of Palermo and Agrigento are within an hours drive. You will not be short of things to see and do. Not to mention the great Sicilian cuisine and of course the relaxing and comfortable Hotel Carmine.

Ian gave us enough information to avoid all the rubbish and concentrate on the best parts of Tuscany which are largely undiscovered. He also lent me his bike, cycling kit and his time to make our stay exceptional. Brilliant information pack – the best we’ve ever had. Very informative, witty and above all accurate. Had excellent suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. Ian spent loads of time and made a real effort to answer all our questions. The best service we’ve ever had on holiday abroad.
