Siracusa, Sicily
The place to stay in Siracusa. Lovely hotel in the heart of the peninsula of historical Ortigia, with stylish and understated interior, the ideal base for exploring the south east of Sicily.
Arrival day: Any Car hire: Recommended
Hotel Gutkowski is the place to stay in Siracusa. Its light blue façade hints at the stylish and understated interior. Throughout the hotel, there is a relaxed feel and the rooms are all decorated in light Mediterranean colours.
The location of Hotel Gutkowski is superb; the peninsula of Ortigia is the historical heart of the wonderful Baroque town of Siracusa. All the sights are on your doorstep, also a host of great restaurants. Just across the road is the seafront and from the roof terrace, the views could possibly encourage you to just stay put (with a small wine bar in the hotel, the decision could well be an easy one).
The rooms are simple and comfortable and offer superb value. The service at the hotel is excellent and relaxed. The owners have paid particular attention to the materials used in the refurbishment and wherever possible have used organic materials.
Highly recommended as a base from where to explore this charming corner of Sicily.

Nice sized room albeit bohemian in style with an extremely comfortable bed. We rate the location as very good at 4 to 5 stars with its proximity to the sea and close access to central Ortigia as well as mainland Siracusa. The only slight downside is the limited parking but we were lucky to get a space some time after our arrival.
