Civitella in Val di Chiana, Tuscany
From £3,190 per week
Lovely, spacious stone-built villa in typical Tuscan countryside with great views. Positioned between Arezzo and Siena, perfect for exploring the region.
Arrival day: Saturday Car hire: Recommended
Two superb villas in private grounds positioned between Arezzo and Siena. This spacious accommodation sleeps up to 16 people although you are welcome to book the larger house alone and the smaller will be closed. The houses have been superbly renovated and each bedroom has its own bathroom. The garden and pool are wonderful and the position of the house is perfect for both relaxation and exploring this fascinating part of Tuscany.
On the ground floor there is a spacious living room with comfortable seating. The kitchen, which leads onto the covered patio, is well equipped with gas hobs, oven, dishwasher and fridge freezer. Most meals will be taken on the patio which is fully-equipped with tables and chairs and overlooks the pool but in the cooler months, there’s a charming dining room with the original stone walls still on show. There is a laundry room with a washing machine and a bathroom. After dinner, one can indulge in a game of snooker/billiards on the full-size table. The final room on the ground floor is a reading room.
Stone steps lead up to the first floor where the large sitting room boasts wonderful views over the pool and to Civitella. Four of the bedrooms lead off this room. Each has a bathroom (with shower) ensuite. There is also a further bathroom with a bath on the first floor.
On the top floor, there is the fifth bedroom which is large and also has an en-suite bathroom (shower). This bathroom has a sloping roof and hence we recommend that the taller members of the group take one of the bedrooms on the first floor. Four of the bedrooms have double beds and one is twin/double.
This smaller house is in the same style as the main villa. Entry is into the well-equipped kitchen – dishwasher, oven, hobs and washing machine. The kitchen leads into the spacious living room and conservatory which has access to the lovely veranda in front of the house. Finally on the ground floor, there is a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower.
Internal stairs lead to the two bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The main bedroom has lovely views over the surrounding countryside.
The pool area is fantastic and there are ample sun loungers. Parents wanting to sip a glass of wine and read a book in the shade can easily keep an eye on their children in the pool as the patio is just 10 metres away.
Villa Civitella is positioned along a ‘white road’ and is just 3 kilometres away from the village of Civitella Val di Chiana which has stunning views across the valley and a couple of excellent restaurants. The owners of Villa Civitella are a charming couple and the husband is a musician – next to the villa he has built a small recording studio. It is fully soundproofed and he is very happy to let guests see him working and join in. The husband looks after the garden and pool, previous guests have enjoyed having contact with the family.

Extremely satisfied with Villas. Location, layout, cleanliness, pool, everything and more than one could have expected. I can not fault Essential Italy in our dealings with them. From the moment I made contact, outlining the requirements for our large party (18 of us over 3 weeks) we were given a high-class service. Villa Civitella is set in a magical part of Tuscany, overlooking the village of Civitella on the adjoining hillside with far reaching views across the valley surround. There are no neighbours, the property is gated, and the pool magnificent. I would not hesitate to use this company again and am already looking forward to our return to Villa Civitella in the near future. Thank you for making a special holiday very special.

Beautiful villa, spacious, comfortable and with lovely big swimming pool, just what I had hoped for and more! Beautiful views overlooking hilltop town about 10 minutes drive away. Fantastic restaurant in Michelin guide 10 minutes away in the opposite direction. Really peaceful! If you want peace and quiet with the only sounds being the toll of a distant clock and the crickets at night time, then this villa is for you. Set in the middle of Tuscany, with amazing views miles around and a wonderful large swimming pool with great sun beds, the villa has really good sized rooms and en suite bathrooms... a great time was had by all of us, including a very interesting tour of the owner's recording studio!

We had an absolutely excellent time - the villa completely surpassed expectations - the size, the view, the pool, etc, etc. We loved the loggia and the billiards room. Fabrizzio was helpful and friendly but not intrusive and Ian's shopping, maps and advice were spot on. We will definitely come back to you again and will recommend your company without hesitation.
