Description

Santa Lucia is located a kilometre along a ‘white road’ in the fabulous countryside close to Siena, a short drive from the medieval walled village of Monteriggioni. With views stretching across the rolling hills, your afternoons will be spent by the spacious pool, set in the lovely scented garden. The owner has lovingly prepared his allotment and you are free to pick your own salad and seasonal vegetables. The owners live on the ground floor of this property.

The house has been restored and decorated to the highest standards. Access is from the private car parking area by external steps and a short flight of internal steps. At the heart of the house lies the spacious kitchen which is fully fitted with all modern fixtures-fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, oven, 5 gas hobs and washing machine. The kitchen has views across the garden and pool. The open plan living room has a large open fireplace and comfortable sofas (and more of those views).

A short corridor leads to three of the four bedrooms. All the rooms have en suite bathrooms (all with shower). The master bedroom has a drawing room attached which can be used as a single bedroom. Each room has its unique colour and the standard of fixtures and fittings is excellent. The fourth bedroom has its own entrance at the top of the internal steps and has the luxury of a large living space, shower room and spacious bedroom with views over the pool (please note that the sink in the bathroom is small). This bedroom is ideal if a couple in the party wishes to have more privacy (e.g. grandparents). Two of the bedrooms can be made up as either doubles or twins – please specify at the time of booking.

The internal steps lead to the garden area. There is a barbecue and dining table, beyond this there is a long lawn where one can doze under one of the trees.

As if the house was not special enough, the pool area is truly splendid. With lawn all around the pool, and a sun terrace, this large pool could be the main attraction of your holiday. The pool and some of the garden is shared with the charming owners, who rarely use it (they work during the week and are rarely at home, previous guests have greatly enjoyed contact with the family and their relatives).

The nearest supermarket and bar/restaurant are in the village of Staggia which is just 2.5 kilometres away. Monteriggioni boasts a great restaurant and Siena is just a 20 minute drive. We believe that Santa Lucia offers the visitor a very comfortable base from where one can explore the Chianti hills and beyond (or simply laze by the pool).

What our guests say

Lucy Elgood, UK

The house, pool and setting were fantastic. Enzo and Mariella were lovely – welcoming and friendly but not intrusive. House was beautifully clean.

Lesley Sheehan, UK

We had a very enjoyable couple of weeks at Santa Lucia. The accommodation was lovely and the owners were very pleasant.

Julia Dunn, UK

We loved Santa Lucia. Beautiful, traditional villa – very atmospheric and evocative of earlier times. Loved the internal stone steps, fireplace, marble topped kitchen table and classic Tuscan decor in the bedrooms. Fabulous huge pool. Secluded (loved the white road!) but perfect for Siena, Florence. San Gim, Volterra, Monteriggione (great restaurant) and around. Would love to go back.
