Relais Torre Marabino is a wonderful building dating back to the 1500s and now home to an eco-friendly and intimate hotel that boasts a great countryside position in the south of this beautiful island, just a short way from the super coastline. This property is also in easy reach of some of the well-known towns such as Noto, Modica, Ragusa and Siracusa where you can admire the amazing typical Sicilian Baroque architecture.

The stone tower has now been converted into elegant accommodation and has kept many of the original features ensuring that the character of the building has withstood the test of time. The tower was a fortification on the ‘wheat road’ until it was bought by a local aristocratic family that used it as a summer house.

The 7 rooms have all been furnished and decorated originally and each one has been given a different name of a wine produced in the cantina at Torre Marabino. The views across the Sicilian landscape from all rooms are enchanting and the silence that surrounds this noble building will be appreciated at all time but most especially at night time. Elegance is the theme throughout and a great mix of local materials along with traditional furniture and comfortable furnishings make all the rooms very welcoming. The good choice of rooms means that you may pick between doubles, triples, family rooms sleeping 4 guests and a suite – all are equipped with satellite TV, small fridge, air conditioning/heating, internet connection, safe, spacious shower rooms and all but one double room has a tiny kitchenette enabling you to prepare snacks and drinks whenever you desire.

A tasty and generous breakfast is served on the patio in the gardens under the tower – beautiful grassy lawn, shady trees and grapevines surround you and make every morning a memorable one. Should you wish to laze a little longer in the surrounds of your bedroom, breakfast can also be served in bed – a luxury perhaps to try once during your stay!

The pool invites you to swim at all times of day – the beautiful pale local stone that surrounds the water makes the perfect contrast to the glistening water and you would be forgiven for spending quite a lot of time here simply taking in the perfect scenery that surrounds you and forget about the ‘real’ world. A Jacuzzi sits next to the pool should you wish for a little water therapy.

There is something very comforting in staying in a hotel that also is one of the most renown wineries of the area. Thirty lovingly cultivated acres of vines ensure that Cantina Torre Marabino produces a wonderful selection of both white and red wine – of course you must taste them all during your stay to see which one becomes your own personal favourite. The names of the wines have been chosen by the family for various reasons – L’Archimede, named after the great scientist from Siracusa, and Eureka being just two examples. The pretty and inviting restaurant offers a wealth of tasty fare either in the dining room with its exposed stone walls or out on the terrace under cool umbrellas by day or under the dark blue sky by night. Both meat and fish dishes feature on the menu and the organic vegetable and fruit are the icing on the cake – all home produced on the Torre Marabino farm. You could not ask for more!

If you are looking for some true Sicilian hospitality in wonderful surroundings then you need look no further than Torre Marabino – just try it once and we are sure you will be hooked!
