Masseria Susafa has been in the Saeli-Rizzuto family for five generations and they are still are very ‘hands-on’ in the running of this beautiful agriturismo. It is set in the hills of the Madonie National Park and is surrounded by dramatic countryside. The hills are very fertile and during spring are as green as anywhere you’ll find in Sicily. Susafa sits 900 metres above sea-level meaning that on the hottest days of the Sicilian summer you’ll find it’s slightly cooler than the coast.

There are eighteen ensuite bedrooms all tastefully furnished, and with the exception of the Superior Suite, all on ground floor with an individual seating area outside in the pretty gardens. Light and airy, the furnishings and details have all been chosen with great care providing a traditional yet contemporary feel to every space.

The characteristic restaurant, Il Granaio, is found in the old granary offering a selection of Italian dishes but with a special emphasis on local traditional fare. Many of the ingredients come directly from the vegetable garden and orchard - the rest are sourced locally from nearby suppliers. Drinks are served throughout the day at the Il Palmento Bar - once the setting for the pressing of grapes and the perfect location to taste some of the wonderful wines on offer. Should you need to escape the midday sun films are shown daily on a large screen in a small lounge area adjacent to the bar enabling you to keep your glass topped up throughout the film.

Within the grounds is a super pool which offers lots of covered shade and boasts yet more fabulous views across the rolling countryside. The location lends itself to peaceful relaxation and strolls around the estate along with some blissful star gazing in the evening are guaranteed to help you unwind in this magical atmosphere. However, whilst Masseria Susafa is immersed in some stunning, tranquil countryside, please note that Cefalù, Agrigento and Palermo are all within easy reach for day trips.

We think Masseria Susafa is the perfect location to get away from it all - maybe just a couple of days or perhaps much longer, you will not be disappointed. The gorgeous surroundings will immediately make you feel at home in this beautiful Sicilian setting.

What our guests say

Martin Prince, Andover

This was a really beautiful place with a high standard of accommodation – almost undersold on the website. Although remote and slightly challenging to get to, this was worth it for the peaceful location and wonderful scenery. This was our favourite of the three we stayed in on our trip to Sicily and we would love to go back. The staff were exceptional. The food was fantastic and the Massiera was beautiful.
