With its spectacular Mediterranean climate that promises blazing sunshine in the summer and pleasant temperatures in the winter, Sicily is a favourite with Essential Italy customers all year round. This month we are delighted to announce that we have taken on four new villas in Sicily, placed in a location perfect for exploring the western half of the island.
Situated just a few minutes’ drive from the quiet and beautiful coastline at Selinunte, Villa Ashram is a real countryside haven, boasting gardens with an abundance of olive trees, palms, flowering bushes and cacti alongside a private pool and lake.
Housing up to six guests with its three bedrooms and three bathrooms (with one each of these found in a separate outbuilding), the villa has a sublime mix of old and new, combining a modern kitchen, living room and dining area with the separate original building which contains the bedrooms, decorated with an idyllic zen theme. Huge windows surround the entire house, letting the glorious Sicilian sunshine fill every corner of the villa.
Outside, guests can enjoy a lovely furnished and shady patio, with the sun loungers looking out towards the stunning surrounding countryside as well as the super little pool.
Positioned just a few miles from the beaches of coastal resort Selinunte, Villa Canalotto is a superb and grand property set within its very own private park. Among the picturesque gardens lined with fruit trees, olive trees and pines, lies the majestic villa, based around the original tower.
From the old stone walls of the exterior to the rustic design of the interior, the décor of the villa creates a traditional Sicilian setting and a wonderful atmosphere. The lounge space provides plenty of comfort with its large comfort sofas, backing out onto a dining area complete with an original olive press. Decorated with Sicilian tiles and terracotta flooring, the traditional, well-equipped kitchen is perfect for preparing all kinds of tasty Italian meals.
On the first floor you’ll find the six bedrooms, sleeping up to twelve people, and four bathrooms, all furnished with excellent attention to detail, looking out on the olive and citrus groves below and further out to sea.
Outside you’ll be able to enjoy a shady portico, perfect for keeping cool in the summer heat, as well as an excellent swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers, allowing you to bask in the sunshine as well as enjoy the refreshing water.
Once again excellently positioned in the glorious Sicilian countryside just a short distance from the coastline at Selinunte, Villa Falco offers a tranquil oasis and extremely comfortable accommodation for up to eight guests.
Upon entering Villa Falco, you’ll discover a spacious lounge area, with a gorgeous wood beamed ceiling and traditional stone floors, decorated with wooden and leather furniture. You’ll also discover a rustic kitchen, perfect for trying your hand at Italian cooking, and a pretty little dining area. A staircase leads up to the mezzanine floor, which houses the four bedrooms (sleeping up to eight people) and four bathrooms, all carefully styled with a selection of both contemporary and traditional furnishings.
Outside the villa, a shady portico surrounds much of the property, perfect for cooling off in the warm Sicilian air. It looks out onto the vast grassy lawns, beautiful gardens and fabulous pool. The pool is surrounded by sun loungers, perfect for both lapping up the sunshine and cooling off in the clear water.
Situated a short distance from both the beautiful beaches at Selinunte and the bustling Porto Palo, Villa Antura is set in a wonderful Sicilian countryside location. The villa grounds themselves capture the essence of this landscape, filled with cacti, flowering bushes, old olive trees and palms.
The original part of the building features exposed bricks and wonderful local woodwork, and houses two comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, suitable for a four-person stay. Vast windows allow the glorious Sicilian sunshine to fill the house during the day, making it a wonderful retreat at all times of the year. The newer part of the villa is home to the large living and dining area as well as an excellent, well-equipped kitchen.
Outdoors, a furnished patio looks out onto the great little pool, with sun loungers also dotted around the decking. Every corner of the gardens is also decorated with pots and flowerbeds planted with scented and indigenous flowers, bringing extra colour and beauty to the villa’s grounds.
