Poll reveals that Italians prefer to holiday in Italy

As if Italy needed any more proof that it is an excellent holiday destination, a recent survey has revealed that 8 out of 10 Italians prefer to travel in Italy, and plan to spend their holidays in their home country, rather than venturing abroad.

The survey was carried out recently by the Confturismo-confcommercio tourism and trade associations, and also revealed that Tuscany and Sicily were the top choices of holiday destinations, with Lombardy taking third place as it is placed under the spotlight while it hosts the Milan Expo.

With Italians choosing to explore their own country rather than venturing elsewhere, it demonstrates just how diverse Italy is, and how every corner of the country has something exciting to offer. Part of its diversity lies in its natural beauty, with landscapes ranging from snow-topped mountains to sunny beaches, with the individual cultures of each town or city also adding to the experience of discovering something new.
