New Puglia and Sicily properties added to Essential Italy

Sun, sea and a much needed change of pace – these can all be found in the beautiful Italian regions of Sicily and Puglia. Sicily is an island paradise found in the heart of the Mediterranean, sculpted with stunning coastline and dramatic volcanoes, while Puglia, the heel of Italy’s boot, is an overlooked gem characterised by whitewashed houses, offering an insight into the real, authentic Italy. We’ve well and truly fallen for these parts of the world, and after exploring even more corners of these stunning regions, we’re proud to have these four new trulli in Puglia and apartments in Sicily added to Essential Italy’s collection of holiday rental properties.

Trullo Tartaruga, Puglia

Located just off a country lane between the picturesque towns of Ceglie Massapica and Ostuni, a firm visitor favourite, Trullo Tartaruga is a peaceful trullo in the traditional Pugliese style, surrounded by gardens. A selection of great shops, restaurants and bars, as well as interesting attractions and monuments, can be found in the nearby towns, which include Alberobello, Cisternino, and Locorotondo. Several superb sandy beaches can also be found on the Adriatic coast, which is just 20km away. Sleeping up to six guests with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, this stunning trullo has everything you need to enjoy the real Puglia in comfort. The entrance leads you immediately into the small lounge space, before leading out to the fully-equipped kitchen and dining area. You can also rustle up something to eat on the outdoor barbecue, after relaxing with a cooling dip in the pool.

Boasting five impressive conical roofs above each of the rooms, Trullo Pesca can also be found between Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica, in an equally tranquil location surrounding by rolling olive groves. Recently refurbished, this stunning whitewashed building retains all of its traditional features, finished off with modern touches and comfortable furnishings. With two bathrooms and two bedrooms (one double, one twin), the trullo comfortably sleeps four, with adequate space throughout the rest of the trullo in the lounge, kitchen and dining area. Outdoors, where you’re sure to spend most of your time here beneath the sunshine, there’s a pool perfect for a cooling dip, an outdoor seating area and terrace, and a covered pergola offering some much-needed shade.

When it comes to beachside apartments, you won’t get much closer to the beach than Faccia a Mare, which is just 1.7km east of the popular Sicilian resort of Donnalucata. Sleeping up to four with two bedrooms (one double, one twin) and a bathroom, this comfortable property is in an unbeatable setting with some truly envious views out to sea. Offering an open plan lounge and kitchen area alongside a dining area perfect for outdoor dining, this apartment really does have everything you need for the perfect beach holiday. Donnalucata is just a gentle stroll up the beach, with its selection of local shops, restaurants and bars, while other towns such as Noto and Ragusa are a short distance away, perfect for day trips.

Punta Secca

Punta Secca, one of our new apartments in SicilyComprising of two beachfront apartments, Punta Secca is just a short distance from the beach town of the same name, most famous for featuring in the popular book and TV series Inspector Montalbano. With the beach right in front of you, these air-conditioned apartments make for the perfect seafront base to enjoy the Sicilian coastline. Apartment Sotto can be found on the ground floor and features a joint living room/kitchen, a bathroom with shower and a double bedroom, which opens out right onto the beach front and the sun-kissed patio. On the patio, which has its own dining table and sun loungers, you’ll feel like you have your own private section of the beach. Apartment Sopra can be found on the first floor, which external steps taking you up to the terrace complete with chairs and table. The terrace then follows into the light and airy kitchen and living room. Next to this is the double bedroom, with stunning sea views, while the twin room, which has its own balcony, is accessed by a spiral staircase.
