Tuscany is famous throughout the world and people travel here at all times of the year. Over the past 50 years the selection of private villas with pools, apartments for rental and hotels has developed and now it is one of the top regions in the world. Many come to visit Florence, Siena, Pisa and the host of other medieval towns for a glimpse of the art treasures of the Renaissance, some to relax in the sublime countryside and to savour the heavenly wine and cuisine – and to shop in the many specialist boutiques.
The Chianti region provides the stunning backdrop to some of Chianti and Gaiole. The vineyards which cover these hills and indeed much of the region produce top quality wine – Brunello of Montalcino, Chianti Classico, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano being but a few.
However, many come to experience all of the above and more – the ‘Tuscan Experience’ is a complex tapestry – as one travels this diverse region it is possible to find new ‘treasures’ and fresh enthusiasm to return time and time again.
Off the beaten track there are a host of smaller villages and towns to explore, such as Cortona, Arezzo, Lucca, Pistoia and Montepulciano. Browse the local shops and pick up a bottle of local wine, fresh melon, some fine slices of Tuscan ham, fresh bread and head back to your villa to relax by your pool before heading out for the evening to wander the medieval back streets and mingle with the locals.
