The view from Villa Crawford is one of the best surprises we have ever come across in Italy. Named after the famous American author Francis Marion Crawford this stretch of coastline is truly spectacular. The owner has turned his family home into a beautiful bed and breakfast located a short walk from the charming village of San Nicola Arcella, a bustling village with several places to eat out at and also with a beautiful beach down below.
The design of the villa is modern and the owner has ensured that the view is ever present in all spaces. Built into the side of the hill entry is into the spacious living area bar, there is a large terrace leading from here where we are sure you will spend much of your time enjoying the view. From breakfast to after dinner drinks this space is always the perfect spot.
The four double rooms are all spacious and with en suite bathrooms (with showers). Two are on the middle floor, one with an external terrace and the other with amazing landscape windows which open up. A further two rooms are on the ground floor and have direct access onto the well –tended garden which surrounds the villa.
Andrea, the young and dynamic owner, and his staff are always on hand to make sure you have anything required and to assist with planning your days. The village of San Nicola Arcella is a short walk away and is a warren of old backstreets with some charming local places to dine at. The beaches below are easily reached by foot and just around the corner is the stunning Arco Magno, one of nature’s marvels – crystal clear waters reached through an arch of weathered rock.
Nearby many of the beauties of Calabria are close to hand and from the villa you can cast your eye on three stunning regions of Italy – Calabria, Basilicata and Campania. For those looking for something special and a little different then we believe that Villa Crawford is just the ticket. Views to rival Amalfi, genuine Italian culture, beautiful sea and beaches along with classic Calabrian hospitality and cuisine. We recommend travelling here before the others find out about it!
