Villa Ortelle snuggles in the backstreets of the small town of Ortelle, only a few minutes away from the crystal clear sea and some spectacular towns. The house has been designed with great care and attention. Entry from the street is into a wide courtyard with cactus and succulents with lovely seating areas for dining and relaxing. Beyond this courtyard is the exquisite swimming pool which also abounds in relaxing areas and secret corners.
The owner will not accept children under the age of 12 years.
The house is all one the ground floor, apart from the master bedroom which is the only room on the first floor. All the other rooms have direct access to the gardens and all bedrooms have en suite bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are across the courtyard from the main house and another is located next to the pool (single bed) and are ideal for those wishing for a little more privacy. The kitchen and living areas are open plan and the style throughout the house is homely and in keeping with the surrounding landscape. The stone work is wonderful and the facilities, along with the pretty furnishings and the simple but stylish Pugliese style, make Villa Ortelle a truly special property.
On the far side of the garden that is home to the swimming pool, accessed by a gate, is another charming courtyard which has two more ensuite bedrooms. These can be closed off depending on the size of the party.
Ortelle is a sleepy backwater and there is a local bar a short walk away. The nearby towns all have a selection of restaurants and there are some beautiful places to visit such as Otranto, Lecce and Gallipoli. The Adriatic coast is stunning and boats trips are available from many of the small seaside villages such as Castro Marina.
Villa Ortelle is Southern Italy at its best and is a little paradise once you enter through the wooden gate. You may struggle to leave!
