Villa Donata is a true example of a classic Tuscan villa – an authentic, stone-built villa with plenty of room to accommodate all the family. Even as you approach the villa, you’ll be mesmerised by the views of the building as well as the surrounding landscape: a winding white road, shaded woods and stunning vineyards are all part of the journey, with the views of the villa and the grounds a real example of Italian splendour. The owners also run the popular local restaurant La Cantinetta di Rignana, which is well worth a visit, with its incredible views and classic Tuscan dishes.
The ground floor is large and spacious, with its several rooms perfect for large gatherings. A huge and fully-equipped kitchen has everything you need to whip up a delicious Italian meal, while the remaining ground floor is made up of living rooms with plenty of relaxing space as well as a piano and a fabulous bar area for creating glamourous cocktails.
Heading upstairs, you’ll find five beautifully-decorated bedrooms, each with their own en-suite bathroom, as well as another living room and another fully-equipped kitchen. All the bedrooms apart from two are doubles, with the other two capable of being made up as either doubles or twins, each with their own gorgeous views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside.
Outdoors, you’ll be spending most of your time on the vast covered patio, which enjoys sweeping views of the surrounding area, as well as a lovely swimming pool and Jacuzzi hot tub perfect for cooling off in the hot Tuscan sun. For larger groups, there is also a second house, looking out onto the pool, complete with a third kitchen and two more ensuite bedrooms.
Though Villa Donata is set in a secluded location, you are not far from the nearest village, Badia a Passignano, which has 3 wonderful Italian restaurants with a host of wonderful Tuscan food for you to sample. The other villages within the Chianti region are also easy to reach, surrounded by glorious nature and beauty, and the cultural cities of Florence and Siena are also within a reasonably short distance.
