This characteristic and typical Tuscan building dating back to 1596 is located next to the beautiful Villa La Ferdinanda and was once the home to the attendants and pages of this imposing villa. The restoration has been carefully carried out leaving wherever possible the original features untouched including chimneys, fireplaces, antique wash basins in stone, old wooden beams, wonderful terracotta floor tiles and not to forget the amazing fresco of Saint Antonio.
The hotel is in a perfect position surrounded by a splendid Mediterranean park accompanied by superb views across the rolling Tuscan hills. The 37 bedrooms are all found on the ground and first floor leading off one of the covered and arched porticos. Charmingly rustic, local materials and pretty fabrics have been used to create a chic ambience always with comfort in mind – all rooms have air conditioning, satellite TV, Wi-fi, telephone, mini-bar and lovely en-suite shower or bathrooms – some with Jacuzzis.
The gardens around the hotel are a delight and are beautifully maintained with an abundance of trees and flowering bushes. The large pool is surrounded by grassy lawns and there are plenty of sun beds for relaxing, snoozing or just taking in the wonderful vista.
The position of Hotel Paggeria Medicea enables you to easily visit many nearby towns and hamlets which naturally all have a selection of restaurants but should you prefer to dine in these magnificent surroundings there are 2 options open to you: Biagio Pignatta – a grand restaurant with a spectacular terrace offering a super choice of local dishes and the Cantina del Redi, the original wine-making cellar where you may enjoy some rustic Tuscan dishes all washed down with some very palatable home-made wine.
The Hotel Paggeria Medicea offers super accommodation in a truly lovely setting – well worth a try for a short break or a longer stay
Everything about our first trip with Essential Italy made us return for a 2nd time in 4 months. The country is probably one of the most stunning and beautiful places we have visited, the 2 properties we have stayed in were fantastic, the weather great. But knowing how great our 1st holiday had been, we knew we could trust them to make our 2nd trip just as good. In fact it was better! Thank you & already looking forward to next years trip.
