Campello Alto, Umbria
From £3,800 per week
This 500 year old stone villa sits in an enviable position with breath taking, panoramic views from each of its rooms. With the rolling hills of Umbria and Spoleto in the distance this villa is ideal for a group of friends or an extended family looking for privacy.
Arrival day: Saturday
This spacious country villa has been recently restored retaining many original features creating an elegant country home.
It has 5 generously sized bedrooms; four double bedrooms and one with a wooden bunk bed (two single beds). There are five bathrooms (one en suite), two kitchens (a large kitchen on ground floor and a kitchenette on first floor), and two spacious living rooms.
The downstairs rooms open onto a large stone terrace with a pergola and barbecue. During the summer months all your meals will no doubt be enjoyed from this space which offers the same wonderful view over towards Spoleto.
The entrance leads into the main kitchen which has a large wooden dining table centre stage. This table seats 10 people with an extension. The kitchen has direct access to the covered terrace with the main outside dining table again seating 10 people - there is also a barbecue on this terrace. This terrace is on the same level as the pool and, unsurprisingly, has a splendid view over the medieval village of Campello.
From the kitchen you'll find a study with a desk and computer which you can use during your stay should have the need. On this level you'll also find a living room with a large open fire place (wood available on request at an extra cost) and comfortable seating. Two doors lead off this room, one to a bathroom with a steam shower and toilet, the other leading into a corridor with two bathrooms (both with a shower) and three double bedrooms all with ceiling fans.
A staircase leads up to the second floor where you find a kitchenette (again fully-equipped) and another spacious living room with large windows offering an undisturbed view of the valley. This lounge has direct access to an upper covered terrace again with a dining table, and of course the view.
The sleeping area on the second floor has three more spacious bedrooms; two are double bedrooms and one has bunk beds. One of these doubles has a spacious ensuite shower room.
All the bedrooms have ceiling fans and due to the thick stone walls and elevated position even during the months of July and August the house remains cool.
The road up to the villa is a narrow lane and attention needs to be taken.
We are delighted to offer you this wonderful villa and given the location and view you might just find it hard to leave, however, if you want to be out and about exploring the beautiful towns of Umbria await you.

Casale Bellavista is a spacious villa with spectacular views, from more than one terrace, over tree-covered hills and olive groves towards Spoleto across the valley. We were there in a hot spell but the pool and ceiling fans in all bedrooms meant we could cool off at the villa in the afternoons. Near to many charming hill top towns for good food, frescos and sunsets! August 2023
