With glorious views and a superb garden, Torre del Cielo is a wonderfully characteristic 5 bedroom stone villa with private pool. The villa is located on the border of Tuscany and Umbria and provides comfortable and spacious accommodation for up to 10 people. The villa is full of character with heavily beamed ceilings, exposed brickwork and traditional terracotta tiled floors.
On the ground floor there is a large open plan living room, with comfortably furnished sitting room leading through a wide open arch into the dining room with table and chairs for 10 people. There is also a fully equipped kitchen (oven, hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, dishwasher), with doors which lead out onto the garden and tower suite. A second sitting room has wooden stairs leading up to the first floor.
On the first floor there is a short corridor from where you reach the bedrooms. Two double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom with shower. Two twin/double bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom with shower. All of the bedrooms have air conditioning units (payable locally according to usage).
The final bedroom is located in the medieval tower that is accessed from the garden. The tower is quirky and full of character with its stone walls and beamed ceilings. On the ground floor is a simple sitting/dressing room with a couple of wicker chairs and wardrobe. There is also a small bathroom with shower on the ground floor. A narrow wooden staircase leads up into a double bedroom. From this bedroom there are narrow steps which lead out onto the tower top and from here is the best view to be had.
The garden is beautifully landscaped with terraces and pretty shrubs and flowers. There is a wonderful covered loggia with table and chairs for dining alfresco and plenty of garden furniture is provided for you to relax and enjoy the gardens under the warm Tuscan sun.
The swimming pool (12m x 6m x 1.5m deep) is located on a terrace above the main house. It is surrounded by roses and lavender, cypresses and olive trees and from where you have wonderful views across the valley. There is a Jacuzzi near the pool that is available for an additional charge to be paid locally. Plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas are provided by the pool.
Torre del Cielo is situated in the pretty countryside surrounded by woods, olive groves and fields, near the picturesque medieval town of Monterchi, on the border of Tuscany and Umbria. The location, in the hills between Citta di Castello and Cortona, is ideal for exploring eastern Tuscany and northern Umbria when you can bear to tear yourself away from the pretty gardens and your own private pool.
Monterchi, just 2.5 kilometres, is the closest town where you will find good local facilities and restaurants. Monterchi however, is better known for Piero della Francesca’s ‘Madonna del Parto’ that is housed in the Museo della Madonna del Parto of Monterchi.
Arezzo, of ancient Etruscan origin, can be reached in about 30 minutes and is a magnificent city that is well worth a visit. The famous antique’s market transforms Arezzo’s medieval centre on the first Sunday and preceding Saturday of each month and the city has a wealth of interesting museums and churches, along with a good range of shops and restaurants. Nearby Anghiari is famed for the Busatti linens and with its narrow streets, cafés, shops and restaurants, it is a lovely town to visit and have a wander around. Perugia and Assisi are also within easy reach and the cities of Florence and Siena are feasible for day trips by train from Arezzo. The charming owner includes a buffet arrival meal for you and can organise wine tours.
