Description

You will enjoy watching the sunrise as well as sunset aperitifs in this uniquely located property set among olives, figs and plum trees and just 20-minutes’ drive from the beach. The hillside setting enjoys cool breezes in the hottest summer months while the pool and outdoor shower, hidden in an ancient olive tree nearby, are bathed in sunshine all day.

The four cone trullo had collapsed into a pile of rocks when the owners, writers based in London, fell in love with the view and location and bought the ruin. Their restoration, a labour of love and many hair-raising adventures, is respectful of the building’s original, agricultural architectural traditions and the interiors and furnishings aim for simplicity, rustic style and comfort.

The four cones contain a bedroom, bathroom, living room and writers’ nook and connect seamlessly with the new, vault roof stone lamia where you will find the kitchen, with antique marble-top breakfast table and a second bedroom and en suite shower room with bidet. Large doors open directly onto the pergola and outdoor eating area with unobstructed views to the pool and the sea.

A roof top terrace offers spectacular sunsets and the stone paved area outside the trulli is equipped with a wood barbecue and outdoor sink. Inside there is a dishwasher, state of the art air conditioning and heating and atmospheric lighting adds to the night-time ambience.

The little village of Lamie di Olimpia is a five-minute drive away and boasts one of the area’s best known and delicious bracierie (meat restaurants) and a handy local shop. Locorotondo is less than a ten-minute drive away.

This property was designed by its owners to be a creative, romantic retreat and while they adore children and have four grown up ones of their own, it is not safe for toddlers.

What our guests say

Alice W, London

Excellent, as ever! October 2022

Helen B, Pinner

Essential Italy have been really good - really responsive, really thoughtful. A few notes on the Trullo. We had the washing machine issue, but that was addressed. We also had no wifi for the first two days as the data had run out and didn't get refreshed until 1/8. For the price, we felt there were a few things we would have expected in the Trullo eg a beach umbrella, that we have always had in similarly priced accommodation. However, the Trullo location is incredible and we had a fantastic holiday. August 2022
