The owners of Trullo Leonor created a unique Pugliese experience when they fell in love with the glorious Valle d’Itria, famous for it's light, its' magical nature where oak trees dance with olive trees, the wild food that grows spontaneously and the kindness of its people - ancient followers of the Sun God. Together they restored an ancient set of trulli and lamias with the highest respect and created their little piece of paradise away from the hectic life of fashion. True luxury is giving oneself the opportunity to be surrounded by wild nature whilst breathing fresh spicy air, diving into the silence that only such a peaceful place can offer, going back to your roots and listening to your inner voice.
Trullo Leonor lives in the countryside of Ceglie Messapica (the region's gastronomic capital) between Ostuni and Cisternino in the Val’d Itria. The property’s twenty hectares are mostly Mediterranean wild bushes, oak woods and olive trees from which the homemade oil is made. Walking around you will meet “specchie” which look like stone “panettone” constructions, and they were supposed to be, in ancient times, burial sites for distinguished warriors. Enjoy the wonderful sunsets from the terraces or simply roam around the 20 acre estate.
The property consists of the main trullo with lamia, a Grotta and a guest trullo. Trullo Leonor is one of a kind as it has been constructed following the ancient rules of the last “masters trulleros”. Each stone was tailored cut by hand on the spot in order to make it fit - a kind of Mediterranean dry stone wall. The original chianche floor stones are 50cm thick, the doors, libraries and chimneys have been all created using 18th century local materials.
The Trullo is furnished with lots of style and personality. Big windows allow plenty of light to enter the properties internally and permit guests to enjoy the colour of nature externally at all times. The large swimming pool sits to the side of Trullo Leonor amidst pretty gardens and olive groves. The whole structure dates back to the eighteenth century and the thickness of the trullo walls is about two metres keeping the house cool during the hotter months.
