Arrival day: Saturday Car hire: Recommended
Trullo Elio offers an idyllic Puglian retreat, situated close to the village of Santa Lucia at the end of a long private drive. It hides, nestled in a hillside of olive trees surrounded by beautiful mature terraced gardens with panoramic views of unspoiled farmland. Perfect for those looking for privacy and peace.
The Trullo is conveniently located within an hours drive of both Bari and Brindisi airports. The coast is just over a 10-minute drive, while the historic towns of Alberobello, Locorotondo and Martina Franca are also close to hand for sight-seeing. Santa Lucia leads directly down to the vineyards of the Val dItria and on to Locorotondo where local wine can be tasted and purchased.
Situated within one of the walled terraces is a secure (difficult for wandering toddlers to enter unless accompanied by an adult) 10 x 5 metre swimming pool. There is a large dining table under a pergola for alfresco dining and two smaller tables offering alternatives for dining by the poolside or for sunset aperitifs. There is a small stone building that houses a washing machine, bikes etc.
Internally the house has been completely modernised and offers WiFi, iPod dock and hot/cold air conditioning and a wood-burning stove for chilly nights.
The front door leads you into a calm and comfortable seating area with room for internal dining if required. There is a television for watching DVDs and a wide selection of English speaking films for both adults and children. The sitting room leads to a traditional bathroom with a beautiful freestanding bath and heated towel rail.
There is a new, fully-equipped kitchen with granite worktop and solid cherry cabinets incorporating an electric cooker, English kettle, toaster and dishwasher. There is also a Nespresso coffee machine.
The master bedroom is accessed internally via the twin bedroom or independently via an external door. This room has been furnished in an oriental style with its own shower, basin and toilet, screened behind a glass brick wall. The twin bedroom leads directly off the sitting room and has been furnished in a romantic style with antique furniture. This room has an exposed stone wall, traditional Italian shutters and a wooden ceiling. It also accommodates useful things like a hairdryer, scales, a safe, first aid kit and a selection of board games, guidebooks, maps, novels and cookery books for those looking for fun or inspiration.
Trullo Elio offers guests the benefits of modern living and delivers luxury accommodation without losing its traditional Puglian experience. It is a fabulous property in an outstandingly pretty setting.

Wonderful. Absolutely delighted with our accommodation; it was even better than we anticipated. August 2019

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Trullo Elio. The trullo itself was perfect for our family and the swimming pool was such a bonus. It meant we could have the odd day where we just stayed in. I would suggest that anyone who rents this villa should be a confident driver as the roads that lead to the trullo are pretty narrow. This being said, as it's off the beaten track, the house is set in a very tranquil location. August 2019

Glorious trullo, stunning pool, 8 different locations to be around the property during the day, lovely beds and linen, surprisingly well equipped micro kitchen. first holiday where we spent most of the time at the accommodation bar wonderful sea food restaurants on the coast. we're definitely returning to Puglia even contemplating the same place. Loved the Trullo and left some comments in the guest book there. Very clean, tranquil and very well equipped, though not keen on having an open plan ensuite - bedroom. Chris was very helpful in recommending near by restaurants/beaches etc.

Excellent location for exploring Puglia, both the coastline and the historical towns and cities around. So much to see and do that there's plenty to return to again, that and the dolce vita. The incomparable gelato's to die for and the Trullo Pool ideal for children as enclosed.

Book it! We had a wonderful time and will be going again. Chris was so helpful; the property is gorgeous and in a gorgeous location. The owner has done it out so nicely. There are coffee machines (filter and espresso!); lovely crockery. We had a really really good time.
