This charming property sums up the best of Southern Italy.

Located in the sleepy little town of Ortelle, Casa Anita is accessed through a pink door in a line of terraced houses in a backstreet close to the church and main piazza. The door opens into a little oasis of simplicity, style and calm – the perfect base for a relaxed holiday.
Local furnishings carefully used with the basics of the original house make Casa Anita unique. The comfy sitting room has high vaulted ceilings and the simple furnishings with neutral-coloured throws, stripy linen cushions and a mismatch of antique furniture works perfectly.
To the left of the sitting room is a country-stye kitchen complete with everything you may need to cook some wonderful meals and not leave this haven apart perhaps for some shopping or a coffee with the locals in the sunny piazza.
To the right of the kitchen is another lounge area – this has two armchairs and two single beds arranged as sofas but perfect to sleep 1 or 2 children. Leading off this lounge there is a shower room and then a double bedroom complete with en-suite shower room. A small “snug” leads off the double bedroom with a big open fireplace – a cool and quiet place to escape the midday summer sun or a cosy place to enjoy a snooze with the fire lit in the cooler months of the year.
All the ground floor rooms have access through glass doors to the gorgeous walled terrace – here guests can while away the day in the sun or shade, taking a dip in the perfect little pool found on a raised terrace. Stone walls are covered in brightly coloured flowers, there is a large dining table and comfy chairs for daydreaming in!
From the main sitting room there is steep stone staircase up to the first floor. At the top of this are doors out on to the roof terrace, actually a selection of terraces on different levels affording views across the rooftops of Ortelle. Internally on the first floor is a very big bathroom with freestanding tub that leads into a charming double bedroom with four-poster bed and big glass windows.
We are delighted to add Casa Anita to our Puglia programme and suggest early booking to avoid total disappointment!
Please note that this property with internal stone staircase and external terraces is not for small children or anyone with a walking difficulty as there are many uneven steps and falls.

A great booking experience. You guys were responsive and knowledgeable. Felt like a personalised experience. The accommodation itself was better than described or pictured which was a pleasant surprise. Great assistance from Marina and Giorgio. Will use Essential Italy again if we can. August 2023
