La Vecchia Sassa is located in the glorious Tuscan countryside at the foot of the ancient hamlet of Iano – just a few minutes walk away. The peaceful setting guarantees your stay to be relaxing and peaceful making you wonder if you will ever go back to city life! At 350 metres above sea level, La Vecchia Sassa dominates the valley which was once known as the ‘Grain store of the Etruscans’.
The original building dates back to the 1600s and has been brought back to life with sympathetic restoration work and simple Tuscan furnishings taking great care to respect the antique building traditions of the area.
The 8 apartments are all slightly different in size and furnishings but are all elegant and comfortable in their design. Striped fabrics and pastel colours compliment the stone walls and beautiful antique furniture perfectly. Each apartment has its own private entrance, Sat TV, safe and all are equipped with good working kitchens with oven, hob and fridge/freezer, dishwasher Heating (and air conditioning only in Terrazza) can be found throughout (payable locally) and all apartments are light and airy with access to the gardens and their own al-fresco eating area.

4 persons, ground floor apartment. 1 double bedroom, 1 twin/double bedroom, 2 shower rooms. Terrace with garden view furnished with table, chairs and umbrella.
4 persons, ground floor apartment. 1 double bedroom with ensuite shower room, 1 double/twin bedroom, 1 shower room. Outside area with garden/pool view furnished with table, chairs and barbecue. Covered parking.
5 persons, ground floor apartment. 1 double bedroom with patio, 1 double/twin bedroom, 1 shower room, 1 bathroom tub/shower. Large outside space with garden view furnished with table, chairs and umbrella.
5 persons, independent villetta on ground-floor. 1 double bedroom with ensuite shower room, 1 double/twin bedroom, single sofa bed and 1 shower room. Terrace with valley view and garden with table, chairs, umbrella and barbecue. Covered parking.
6 persons, first-floor apartment. Situated in Iano 100 metres from the other apartments and 160 metres from the pool. 2 double bedrooms with ensuite shower rooms, 1 double/twin bedroom and 1 shower room. Steps lead up to a panoramic terrace with valley view and furnished with table, chairs, umbrella and barbeque. Private parking and private WC/shower at the pool.
The gardens are beautifully kept and the pool is surrounded by 100-year-old oak trees, perfumed flowering shrubs and well kept grassy lawns. There is plenty of space to sit both in the warm Tuscan sunshine and the cool shade and while away the time with a glass of chilled local wine and your book. For the more energetic, there is a wealth of cultural towns and sites virtually on the doorstep of La Vecchia Sassa so there are no excuses not to do a little sight-seeing during your stay!

Beautiful location, we stayed in the old school house which was a lovely shabby chic apartment, very clean, excellant facilties, beautiful pool, highly recommend to anyone. The owner couldn't have been any nicer, in fact because it was my husband's birthday she upgraded our accommodation as we only booked the one bedroom and also gave him a bottle of wine, a lovely touch. The description on your website was very accurate a lovely apartment... stunning, very peaceful, even more beautiful than we expected.

Wonderful! Friendly and helpful hostess… Excellent kitchen. Wonderful pool. Plenty of poolside furniture. It was great having the little local mini market. It meant we didnt have to go anywhere else for provisions… Great for visiting the beautiful towns nearby. Florence by train was easy.

Pretty, quiet, friendly village with shop and 2 restaurants in walking distance, particularly La Piazzetta which was excellent. Breath-taking views as promised and easy driving distance to San Gimignano and Volterra.
