Villa Armena is a luxurious retreat for those of you looking for the perfect peaceful and romantic break. Located in the heart of Tuscany almost on the doorstep of Montalcino and just 20 minutes from Siena, this impressive historic building with its red brick facades, oak beams, stone floors and glorious Italian gardens makes the perfect place to overnight or more. Dating back to the 1500's the house was originally the country residence of Signor Malavolti, who whilst travelling back from the Holy Land, fell wildly in love with a young lady from Armenia, married her and subsequently named the villa after her as a mark of respect.
The exquisite gardens surround the villa enabling you to wander in the fresh morning or warm evening air - any time is good here and you may be amazed at the wonderful selection of roses that bloom here - the perfume being almost too much. An inviting swimming pool nestles in the gardens with sunbeds and shade - the best place to be in the heat of the summer.
The exclusive resort is home to 10 rooms each one furnished and styled in a completely different manner. Whether you choose a classic double, junior suite or suite you will be luxuriously comfortable and suitably cossetted during your stay. Every room has a superb view and is furnished with gorgeous antique furniture, paintings, prints and rich fabrics. Carefully combined into the elegant accommodation are the modern day requirements of wi-fi, air conditioning, heating and the most sumptuous ensuite bathrooms with hairdrier, bathrobes, slippers and the softest of towels.
Villa Armena offers wonderful dining using the philosophy 'Made in Italy only'. The chef proudly uses fresh local goods in his unique 'Slow Food' menus, many of these products coming from the villa's own vegetable garden. You can quite often catch him early morning here as he ponders on the flavours of the day! The main restaurant, Il Sorbo Allegro, offers excellent traditional fare often mixed with a contemporary twist, served in an elegant and suggestive setting. La Cantina is home to a comprehensive wine cellar where you are invited to wander through this fabulous world of wines from all over Italy selecting different grapes to suit your tastebuds!
If you are looking for a peaceful area to enjoy your newspaper, Il Salotto is reserved for relaxing before or after a hard day of sight-seeing, a round of golf or a swim in the pool - this elegant room is the perfect place to forget about the rest of the world and simply enjoy some tea, coffee, local wine, a pre-dinner aperitivo or an after-dinner liqueur. The choice is yours!
Should you require a little extra pampering during your stay then you may wish to try one of the mind and body, regenerating treatments on offer in the delightful spa of Villa Armena. A real oasis of privacy and peace awaits in this beautifully designed relaxation area - choose from the many different areas including the hamman, hydromassage pool, sauna, earth room, water room, sensation room and much more.
We can higly recommend a stay at Villa Armena if you are looking for a little Tuscan sun along with some truly spectacular Tuscan hospitality.
I have been really impressed by the professional yet personal service that we have received from all of the staff at Essential Italy - in 26 years of booking family holidays, I have never experienced such a first rate, comprehensive service. Thank you, once again, for all of your help with our booking, including the car hire (everything was what we’d asked for) and the English to Italian translations for my son’s peanut and nut allergy (absolutely invaluable). Please pass on our thanks to Ian, too, for taking the time to visit us and for the very welcome bottle of wine!
