Take a step back in time and stay at the wonderful historic Royal Victoria Hotel on the banks of the River Arno in Pisa. You will be one of many famous guests – the list is extensive and impressive including various princes and princesses, the Duke and Duchess of Wellington, the Rockerfellers, Michele Placido, Charles Dickens and many more. Pictures, photos and books line the walls of the welcoming reception giving you an idea of how the city has changed but how the hotel has remained a historic point of reference with its style and grandeur.

Boasting 3 stars, the hotel has no desire to modernise more than it has already. Simple rooms with high ceilings and wonderful tiled floors make this elegant and particularly stylish hotel a “must” if passing through Pisa. Sitting on the bank of the Arno, the location is perfect for browsing the streets of the town and wondering at the marvellous tower and baptistery.

The 48 rooms are dotted over 3 floors with spacious hallways and comfortable sitting areas where you least expect them – some rooms afford views over the river and others look across the Pisan terracotta roofs. If you are looking for modern chic then we advise you to look elsewhere but if you are looking for an experience that will undoubtedly add to the quality of your holiday in Tuscany then the Royal Victoria is for you!

Everything about our first trip with Essential Italy made us return for a 2nd time in 4 months.
