Giuggiulena is what all B&B’s should be like – warm and friendly service, great rooms, fantastic breakfast and stunning sea-front location. Situated in the old Greek town of Siracusa, this family home is a real success boasting 7 rooms and a large lounge with windows that open out on to a balcony which is literally over the sea. Built on the side of a craggy rock face, the lift takes you down to the bedrooms which all have splendid views and balconies. You may access the sea by means of a door that opens out onto some rocks from where you may swim.
Owned and run by the ever-smiling Sabrina and her brother Giovanni, Giuggiulena offers a great standard of accommodation – all the rooms are spacious, light and airy with pale blue and white furnishings. Some rooms have bathrooms and others shower rooms and air conditioning/heating, satellite TV, hairdryer and mini-bar are standard items.
Breakfast is a feast with a great choice of local cakes, jams and typical almond delicacies along with fresh bread, fruit, ham and cheese. Fresh coffee is available and there is a kettle for the guests’ use so you may make tea or coffee at any time during the day – a great idea if you are not in a rush and wish to ponder over your guide book just a little longer on the balcony before setting off for the day!
With the town on your doorstep, you can easily visit some of the ancient ruins dating back to when the Greeks colonised the area and wonder where exactly Archimedes, the famous geometrician, was born in this fascinating area.
Truly stunning views as well as feeling private. Immaculate, nice added touches such as fruit and welcome wine. Better than other villas we have booked through other companies which were more expensive but of a lesser quality. Exceptional attention. Particularly impressed with Ian, who not only phoned us upon arrival and directed us to the villa, but also arranged extra accommodation for two further members of our party.
