Baglio Oneto Between Marsala and Trapani

The great position of Baglio Oneto means that you can easily see some of the wonderful cultural sites, visit some great nearby towns (including Marsala, Erice, Trapani and the impressive city of Palermo) and also get some warm sea air along the stunning coastline. The stunning Egadi islands are also reachable from the port at Trapani making a great day out.

Baglio Oneto is located on one of the green grape-vine covered hills in the outskirts of the ancient town of Marsala and directly in front of the stunning Egadi Archipelago providing super scenery in all directions. This little oasis dates back to the 18th century when Napoleon stopped any commercial shipping to Spain and the locals of the area concentrated on cultivating the vineyards as they discovered that Marsala was on the same parallel as some of the best Spanish vineyards. Today Marsala produces some of the very best Italian wines for this very reason.

The rooms are all prettily furnished with a selection of views from the balconies or windows – some have the blue sea and the Egadi island in the distance and others look out over the super pool or the amazing grapevines. Simple and elegant furnishing in summery pale shades are predominant with the odd striking splash of rich deep coloured fabrics which compliment perfectly the beautifully tiled floors. All rooms are equipped with cable/satellite TV, air conditioning, minibar, hairdryer, en-suite bath or shower room, safe, telephone and wi-fi access.

The welcoming and elegant restaurant provides some mouth watering Sicilian fare using local ingredients and seasonal fruit and vegetables. Meat and fish are regulars on the menu and the hotel happily caters for vegetarians with a tasty choice of daily dishes. In the summer you may chose to eat indoors in air-conditioned comfort or out on the terrace amidst the old palm trees that create shade and a wonderful atmosphere in the warm and dark evenings.

The pool, with sunbeds and umbrellas, is a great place to unwind after a day of sightseeing or simply the ideal place to relax and watch the day unfold. Snacks and drinks are available from the bar at all times and the views across the countryside along with a few gentle lengths may just be enough for one day!

With easy access to Trapani Airport, a long weekend at Baglio Oneto would really charge your batteries – it may also be a great stepping stone if you are touring this fascinating island and are looking for comfortable and elegant stop-over with some great food.
