This impressive group of trulli has been beautifully renovated and made in to a chic and stylish hotel with a real eye to detail and service. Nestling in the hills between Ostuni and Cisternino the location is perfect for some days out knowing that you can return to this oasis of calm for a cooling dip in the pool and some tasty dinner in the super little restaurant before retiring to your very own trullo.
The 42 original trulli once formed a small village inhabited by monks and then later by local farmers and date back to the 1800’s. The restoration work has been undertaken with a lot of love making the Borgo look as if it comes out of fairy-tale, especially when illuminated at night.
Just wandering around the pretty gardens will give you wonderful feeling of peace and calm. The super pool is located in the centre of the Borgo and is the perfect place for lounging under one of the umbrellas before taking a dip. A covered terrace sits at one end of the pool and here you may enjoy breakfast or a snack and drink at any time of the day.
The 14 suites are simply furnished, fitting the beds and bathrooms into the round coned buildings and using every space possible without taking away any of the original features. The remarkably thick walls help to keep the rooms cool but all rooms are equipped with air conditioning for the hottest months and heating for the cooler ones, along with a smart TV, docking station, minibar and hair drier. Exposed stonework, whitewashed walls and cream-coloured local floor tiles all contribute to the authentic atmosphere found at Borgo Canonica.
The restaurant serves some tasty local fare, much of it coming straight from the gardens at Borgo Canonica ensuring fresh and seasonal fruit and vegetables all year round. Traditional pasta dishes along with some delicious to fresh fish and meat allow you to enjoy local specialities at both lunch and dinner time.
If you are looking to explore this beautiful part of Puglia, Borgo Canonica offers fantastic accommodation in a great location.
