Description

Casa Virginia Uno is part of Montestigliano, a privately-owned estate. Set in beautiful rolling countryside just a few kilometres from the historic town of Siena, Montestigliano is a working farm covering over 2475 acres of olive groves, fig trees and woodland. It’s ideally positioned for exploring Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Pienza and many, many more towns and villages within this beautiful part of Tuscany.

The estate comprises eleven dwellings all dating back to the 18th Century. There are two large pools - one is a quiet pool for those seeking tranquility and the other is a family pool where families can play games and be a little more boisterous. The two large pools are some distance apart to ensure peace for those wishing to seek quiet away from families.

There is a fabulous games room where you’ll find table tennis, table football and a large screen where films and sporting events are shown from time to time. This area is perfect to ensure children escape the midday sun during the summer months and can provide hours of entertainment during the evenings for children and adults alike.

Each week the staff at Montestigliano arrange two dinners in the main piazza under the stars with views over the surrounding countryside. These meals vary and might be a barbecue, pizza night or a typical Tuscan meal. Francesco, the estate manager, and his team work exceptionally hard to ensure you make the most of your time in the region and are always on hand to answer any questions or to assist with local restaurant reservations, wine or olive oil tasting and much more besides. The welcome is always guaranteed to be a warm one.

Virginie Uno is a first-floor apartment in one of the original farmworkers cottages. External stone steps lead to the first floor where there is a narrow terrace leading to two apartments. Entry is into an open plan lounge area with lovely terracotta floors and high beamed ceilings. There is a well-equipped kitchen/dining room to the side of the lounge area. There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin each with an ensuite shower room. There is a washing machine which is below the apartment and is shared with Virginia Due.

Below the apartment is a large lawn with a dining table and chairs along with sun umbrellas. This area is shared with Virginia Due which is adjacent to Virginia Uno. These two apartments can be rented together and make great accommodation for two families or friends wanting a little independence from each other.

We are confident you’ll have a super stay at Montestigliano enjoying the local hospitality along with days out in this lovely part of Tuscany.

What our guests say

Margaret Henry, Sherborne

Truly outstanding. The hilltop setting is wonderful, the views are unbeatable and the estate is beautifully kept. A feast for the eyes in whichever direction you look. There is a nature reserve at the foot of the hill where you can swim in the river – very popular with the locals and great fun too. Siena is a really easy trip for the day or close enough to visit just for supper and we explored new places including Pienza and the Val d’Orcia which we’d never been to before. The apartment was just as described, well-equipped and everything was good quality. The decor was lovely and the whole feeling was one of comfort. We loved the welcoming touches of wine & olive oil and the fact that there were a few basics in the apartment (salt, pepper, coffee) so that we didn't have to shop for everything. We met people there who had been coming to the estate for over 20 years and we can see why. We had a really lovely holiday and hope to return to Montestigliano in the near future.
