Fattoria San Martino is truly unique. The owners, Antonio and Karin, have converted this lovely house with extreme attention to detail. The whole environment is eco-friendly– the beds you sleep on, the food you eat, the hot water, the paint on the walls... The location (just 1 km from the walls of Montepulciano) is superb, the whole of southern Tuscany is on your doorstep.

There are 6 rooms in total – all have views over the surrounding countryside, two are on the first floor and two on the second. Three of the rooms are very spacious, the fourth – in the main house– more a standard room (if there is such a thing at Fattoria San Martino!). In recent years the owners added two more rooms in the house opposite the main house. They have a ground floor entrance and bathroom, the bedrooms are on the first floor. The interior decor is simple – wood, stone and natural fibres are used. All bathrooms have a shower.

In front of the main house there is the breakfast room with a terrace – in the summer months breakfast is served under the olives, overlooked by Montepulciano on the hilltop. The kitchen is open for clients to use (if the vast selection of restaurants does not satisfy your needs).

The pool is surrounded by water plants and no chemicals are used – it ’s like swimming in a clear lake (in spring you share the pool with the frogs!).

I have been really impressed by the professional yet personal service that we have received from all of the staff at Essential Italy - in 26 years of booking family holidays, I have never experienced such a first rate, comprehensive service. Thank you, once again, for all of your help with our booking, including the car hire (everything was what we’d asked for) and the English to Italian translations for my son’s peanut and nut allergy (absolutely invaluable).
