Essential Italy

Set in the glorious landscape to the south west of Palermo Spadafora is a working vineyard producing some of the best Sicilian wines to be found. The landscape surrounding the property is spectacular and vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see.

Staying at Spadafora enables one to be immersed in the day to day running of a top class vineyard. It is possible to taste all the wines in the lovely restaurant enjoying the wonderful views.

Last year the owner added a wonderful pool which is set in well tended gardens and its location makes the very best of all the views. In addition there is a covered dining area and honesty bar.

Accommodation

Each apartment is slightly different and characterised by relaxing colours and simple but comfortable furniture.

Five of the apartments surround the ‘cantina’ and all apartments have private gardens or terraces, all looking out across endless vineyards, the perfect place to relax and sip on a glass of ‘homemade’ wine. These apartments have standard kitchens with 2-ring gas hobs, a small oven, a fridge and a sink. Bathrooms have showers. All the apartments have air conditioning, and heating is provided by a wood-burning stove. The sixth apartment (La Pimpa) enjoys more privacy.

Gialla

Double bedroom and two built-in sofa beds in the living area. Outside terrace overlooking the vineyards.

Azzurra

As above but with more steps down to terrace.

Soleluna

The same as Gialla.

Sonya

On two levels, entrance into kitchen area, 4 steps down to living area and bathroom. Bedroom on mezzanine level upstairs with large balcony overlooking the vineyards.

Sopalco

King size bed on a mezzanine level accessed by wooden steps. Smaller than the others but cozy. Large shower but no terrace or TV.

Pimpa sleeping 2–4

Set away from the main building Pimpa has considerable privacy and a fantastic terrace overlooking the rolling hills and vineyards. The terrace is equipped with table and chairs. From here entry is into a lovely open plan living space. The kitchen area is equipped with hobs, oven and dishwasher. There is a double bed and the possibility of turning the two sofas into single beds.    

One section has been turned into a very comfortable and welcoming restaurant, bookable the day before. There is also a bar service and fabulous reading room with dramatic views over the vineyards.

The pool is set about 50m from the main building and is surrounded by well kept gardens and vineyards. There is a lovely covered dining area where there is also an honesty bar.

Although immersed in the countryside there are many options for day trips, the Greek ruins at Segeste and Selinunte provide spectacular reminders of past civilizations. Palermo and Trapani are towns worth exploring and the sandy beaches are close by.
