Being the largest island in the Mediterranean, there is a wealth of fascinating places to visit during your holiday in Sicily. The fact that Sicily has been invaded and conquered by virtually every civilization known to man means that each passing has left traces. From the stunning Greek temples at Agrigento to the baroque wonders of Siracusa there is a never ending treasure trove of cultural goodies to be unearthed. Palermo (the capital) is a great town to visit, steeped in history, fantastic markets and parks and a lively restaurant scene. Sicilian food and wine reflect very much the geographical location of the island with Italian, African and eastern European influences seeping into many dishes. The Sicilian Granita is the perfect antidote to the hot summer days.
Traveling across the island visitors can easily find small unexplored villages and witness life as it has been for many generations, life is lived at a different pace and all guests must understand this in order to get the best from the island of Sicily.

On the Eastern coast of Sicily lies the charming village of Taormina which is the tourist centre for this region. The slopes of Mount Etna dominate the eastern coast and remains one of the few active volcanoes in the world. To the south of the island the towns of Siracusa, Ragusa and Agrigento all merit extended visits. To the west of Sicily the towns of Marsala and Trapani and the wonderful islands provide a spectacular holiday destination. Some of Europe’s most beautiful and unexplored scenery can be found in the central region of Sicily and in towns such as Enna and Caltinissetta life has remained very much as it has been for generations.

The Island of Sicily has a huge appeal and offers to those looking for something different an ideal holiday location.
