The sea around Sardinia is just spectacular – there is no other way to describe the crystal clear turquoise waters!
The coastline holds hundreds of surprises with bays, beaches and inlets offering an array of colour and clarity that cannot be beaten. If you really wish to have your breath taken away, we suggest you spend one day of your holiday, gently sailing around the glorious Archipelago of La Maddalena, where, unless you actually see it, you will not believe the colour of the sea and the softness of the sand!
Essential Italy has linked up with two classic yachts which you may hire privately or be part of a small group (up to 20 people). From the moment you board, you will be taken care of by the expert crew who will ensure that you get the very best out of your day. Sails are put up almost immediately (wind permitting) and the sensation of freedom, as you glide across the glittering sea with only the noise of the wind in the sails, is just wonderful. Stops will be made for swimming from the boat, and you will be taken by rubber dinghy, to one of the most stunning beaches on the archipelago for an hour or two.
On your return, a simple but delicious lunch will be served under the shade of an awning – fresh pasta, local cheese, red wine and fruit will fill you up after your busy morning of dipping into the blue Mediterranean water. Moving on to another location for yet another leisurely swim, the crew will then slowly take you back to where you boarded – allowing you time to savour the last little bit of wind in your hair.
