Gallipoli sits on the Ionian Sea, on the other side of the Salento peninsula to Bari and Brindisi. Palazzo Mosco Inn is found in the middle of the tiny island that is linked to the new part of town by a bridge. The winding streets are tightly packed together with every corner offering a little piece of history dating back to the 800s – the cathedral and castle perhaps being the major landmarks.

Palazzo Mosco Inn has a great feel to it from the moment you enter – attentive and warm staff lead you to your room up the imposing stone staircase. All the rooms have been decorated in keeping with the original building and you may well find that you have an impressive mosaic floor in your bedroom – décor is elegant and comfort has been considered throughout. High ceilings and tall windows are in keeping with the refined style and air conditioning, mini bar, satellite TV, hi-fi, internet connection are the tasteful concessions to modernisation. The en-suite bathrooms are all wonderfully decorated and have a luxurious feel to them.

Breakfast is served on the magnificent roof terrace where you may enjoy your capuccino and brioche whilst admiring the spectacular views over the rooftops to the glorious blue sea. The roof terrace is also home to a solarium for keeping the sun tan just right and is the perfect place to watch the magnificent Pugliese sunsets – heaven!

This is a fantastic hotel for those of you looking for a one-off special stay – particularly good for the incurable romantics. Restaurants are in abundance on the island and are all within easy walking distance through the myriad of streets and should you wish for a dip in the Ionian sea, then there are over 20kms of sandy beach to try out literally just down the road!
