A mix of ancient and modern make for perfection at the 5 star luxury Masseria Torre Maizza. Like its sister hotel, Torre Coccaro, this building dates back to the 16th century when masserias were built for owners (often lords) to protect their land and watch for the invaders coming in from the sea. Torre Maizza is carefully laid out with reception in the old tower of the masseria. Should you wish to take the steep stone staircase to the next level, you will find yourself in the small but wonderful, perfumed spa where you may enjoy the Jacuzzi, turkish bath or indulge in a blissful massage (amongst other treatments).

The restaurant and bar lead away from the main tower and both have independent terraces for dining or sipping after-dinner drinks under the stars – the geometrical shapes of the elegant dining room with its star vaulted ceiling and tall windows complement perfectly the original black and white chequered floor.

The classic style pool is surrounded by antique columns, palm trees and modern teak decking creating a really special ambience for your daily dip. The pool is solar heated thus meaning that the water is gloriously warm all year round.

Bedrooms are in two groups and are found between the tower and golf course amidst beautifully kept gardens. All the spacious rooms have splendid furnishings and carefully chosen fittings plus an open fireplace for colder weather and a secluded patio (one with private pool) for the warmer season.

The 9 hole golf course is a real bonus for those of you that desire to stretch your legs – club hire and lessons are both available at the Masseria and the green runs between the stunning scenery – Masseria Torre Maizza on one side and the sparkling sea on the other.
