Masseria Torre Coccaro dates back to the 16th century and boasts a unrivaled position – just a short distance from the beach and surrounded by age-old olive, almond and carob trees. The white tower is now home to luxurious accommodation, but was originally built to defend the Masseria from invading Saracens.
The hotel has an air of tranquillity and simplicity as soon as you enter the beautiful grounds and the attentive reception staff will ensure that all your needs are catered for during your stay. The attractive bar / lounge is so inviting that you may feel you need to call in for an espresso coffee or perhaps a pre-dinner cocktail every time you pass either inside in the cool surrounds or outside in the sunshine.
The glorious swimming pool has been cleverly designed with its very own “beach” and is once again surrounded by local olive and palm trees. Sun-loungers and umbrellas abound and should you not feel the need to walk the 50 metres to the hotel bar, you will find the Cabana Snack Bar at hand for cool, refreshing drinks and tasty snacks.
The 33 rooms are dotted around the property all with their own private terrace or balcony. No expense has been spared and the sumptuous rooms have been beautifully furnished making them simply elegant. Fresh white linen, lace, starched cottons and soft coloured furnishings are the main elements and each room is different in size, style and décor. The impressive Aranceto Suite is actually found in a historic grotto making this room unique and is entered through its own perfumed orange grove under which there is a charming little private pool – incurable romantics and honeymooners take note!
The restaurant “Egnathia” offers you excellent cuisine either under the original great vaulted ceiling or outside on the covered patio. Many of the Mediterranean dishes on offer are created using organic produce grown in the grounds, and the Masseria is very proud of its very talented team of local chefs (most of who are very young).
The spa is to be found underground with an amazing heated pool sculpted out below the rocks. Both a jacuzzi and a turkish bath are available plus a wide selection of beauty treatments and massages using pure flower / plant essences.
Should you wish to venture down to the beach, Masseria Torre Coccaro has designed its own beach “lounge” ensuring that the 5 star luxury just goes on and on! The Coccaro Beach Club is set right on the sea front with sunloungers and umbrellas laid out on the fine sand. An oyster and sushi bar is open during the summer months for tasty snacks and there is also an excellent fish restaurant. If you would like to really forget the rest of the world, you may also enjoy a relaxing massage in one of the private treatments areas reserved for Masseria guests only. Can it get any better??
For the slightly more energetic of you, a 9 hole golf course is to be found at the sister hotel, Masseria Torre Maizza, just a couple of minutes away. Here you may enjoy a round of golf on one of the most suggestive courses in Italy.
Masseria Torre Coccaro cannot be recommended highly enough – luxury,
style and elegance just ooze from its whitewashed walls and we can
only suggest that you add it to your wish list!
