Situated in the small hamlet of Metato, Federico is a real home-from-home. On ground floor a large town house with wonderful views towards Viareggio. The hamlet of Metato is perched high in the hills above the Versilia coast and remains very much as it has for centuries. A holiday here is a ‘step back in time’.

Entry is into a reception room and from here you access the large living room and small dining terrace and patio. Upon entry one immediately feels at home and the views are spectacular.

Federico has been restored using original materials and the design is ‘rural chic’. In the living room there is an open fireplace. From the living room there is another access to the patio and also to the spacious kitchen, fully equipped. At the rear of the house there is a small second patio which houses the washing machine (use of which is shared with the other two apartment – Martina and Nicolo). Under the stairs in the living room, there is a trap-door which leads down to a charming bedroom with three single beds and a sink. This room would be ideal for children but please note that the steps down are not suitable for toddlers.

Internal wooden stairs lead to the first floor where there are two double bedrooms. The first enjoys the wonderful views, the second is more spacious and has a private terrace which gives onto a back street of the village. Between the two bedrooms there is a bathroom with shower.

The main terrace is equipped with table and chairs and is the ideal place to enjoy the valley and coastline in the distance –the evening sunsets will probably be the highlight of your day and the night lights below will provide your entertainment long into the night – enjoyed over a glass of wine (or three).

At the bottom of the hill lies Pietrasanta (12kms), a charming town with much to see and do including a fantastic selection of wine bars and restaurants. Over the past few years it has become a centre for leading sculptors and in the summer months it is alive with activity. Just a few kilometres further away is Forte dei Marmi which is the chicest resort in Tuscany. Pisa and Lucca are just a short drive, and Cinque Terre is about 40 minutes by motorway.

Parking is on the edge of the village and it is possible to get quiet close to the house to drop off and pick up luggage.
