Castello di Granarola
Fantastic restored castle with origins dating back to the Roman times when it was used as a grain store – hence the name. The first fortifications were probably added during the 700s and in 1227 the castle incorporated the ‘borgo’ – the dwellings of the local population of farmers and artisans.
Now beautifully restored with a huge amount of attention to every detail of this ancient property, Castello di Granarola has been transformed into some super apartments, each one different in shape, size and style but all with lot of style, flair and character. The gardens have been beautifully laid out with various terraces, a pizza oven, a vegetable patch, fountains, a tiny church and a forest path encircling this impressive castle. Of course there is an inviting pool along with a restaurant and bar in the grounds plus a reading room packed full of interesting books where you may pass the time of day immersed in history and art.
The apartments are all carefully renovated parts of the castle – you may find yourself sleeping in the fox’s lair, the artist’s tower or the dovecote to name but a few of these lovely apartments. Each one has been designed differently due to the nature of the building but they all are equipped with hob, fridge, microwave oven, kettle, coffee-maker, air conditioning, wifi and magnificent views across the gardens and some with a panorama including the blue Adriatic Sea just 3km away.
