Recently restored, this 18th century farmhouse has panoramic views of the Lucchese valley (and as far as the sea on a clear day), it is 450 metres above sea level and set amongst chestnut trees and olive groves. The village of Petrognano is famed for its beautiful walks and stunning scenery where vineyards sweep down to meet olive groves.

The hilltop location and its proximity to Lucca (20 minute drive) combine both a tranquil rural holiday with the attractions of Lucca’s museums, churches, shops and restaurants. Within 15 minutes drive are several famous Lucchese villas, Villa Mansi, Torrigiani, Reale,Grabau which open their doors to the public.

For the children, Pinocchio Park is 10 minutes by car in Collodi. There you will also find the breathtaking gardens of Villa Garzoni complete with maze, hidden grottos and butterfly house. The seaside towns of Viareggio, Lido di Camaiore and Forte di Marmi are an easy 30 minute drive

The house is located up a twisty country road. There is parking in front of your gates and there is a large sun terrace in front of the house equipped with covered dining table and chairs.

Entry into the house is into a large living room and a separate kitchen equipped with gas hobs, oven, fridge / freezer and dishwasher. Beyond the kitchen there is a bathroom with shower and a games room, with pool table/table football. This room has access to the sun terrace.

Internal stairs lead from the living room to the four bedrooms. All bedrooms enjoy the breathtaking views over the valley below. There are two small twin rooms, one double and a lovely bathroom with separate shower and free standing roll top bath. At the end of the corridor is the large master bedroom with wonderful en suite bathroom – complete with walk in double shower. There is also access to the upper terrace from the bathroom.

The upper sun terrace has fantastic views and pool (8 x 4m, 1.5m deep). Here there are sun loungers and barbeque. Below the pool is the laundry room with washing machine.

Due to the steep gardens Essential Italy do not recommend Casa Isabella for families with small children.

The nearby Strada del Vino offers many opportunities to sample and buy wine from the many local vineyards. The nearest being Fattoria Villa Gambaro, a pleasant 10 minute stroll (a steep walk back!), which has a restaurant serving local Tuscan specialities. The nearest small shop and coffee bar is a 5 minute drive in the pretty village of San Gennaro. There is a larger general store 10 minutes drive away and is next to the famous and beautiful Villa Torrigiani in Parigi.
