Originally a fortified, majestic farmhouse, surrounded by olive groves with views across to the Adriatic sea, secluded swimming pool with its own sandy beach.
Arrival day: Any Car hire: Recommended
Borgo San Marco, originally a majestic farmhouse, is surrounded by olive groves with views across to the Adriatic sea. The fortified walls were built to prevent the Turks from entering and are still in almost perfect condition. Apart from recent, careful renovation the property remains unchanged, the house and grounds have been in the family of proud owner Sig. Amati since the 15th century, views of olive trees stretch out in all directions and the homemade oil is an experience not to miss.
The 14 simple and stylish bedrooms reflect the owners wish to keep the house original, they have been modernised with ensuite shower rooms, air-conditioning and satellite TV while maintaining the feel and charm of this historic home. The stables have been converted into the bar, with the horses drinking troughs now basins, and the original olive press sits in the middle of the room. The communal areas are spacious, comfortable and full of artifacts for your perusal during your stay and for the more energetic, take a stroll around the 500 acres of grounds or take a dip in the carefully secluded swimming pool with its own sandy beach!
There is also a small, but exquisitely designed spa with Hamman-Turkish bath. Massages can either be pre-booked or booked with the spa during your stay.
The winning combination of a historic, natural environment and modern comfort makes Borgo San Marco a perfect location for a truly relaxing holiday with plenty of local culture on the doorstep highly recommended.

We had a beautiful suite with a fantastic view over to the coast line. Very clean and well equipped, though could do with a kettle or is that a very british thing to ask for? :) Despite being right between major town Fasano and the beach, it felt a million miles away from everything and very tranquil - beautiful! Beautiful setting and most delicious home cooked food. Felt as if you were in someones house rather than in a hotel and though some little things could improve, e.g. have an additional waiter on busy nights as he was rushed off his feed, but don't turn into a busy hotel machine as it would loose the charm!

Borgo San Marco is a truly stunning place. Great location, fab decor and caring & attentive service. We stayed in the Don Vittorio suite and there was more than enough room for 5 of us. Breakfast on the patio every morning was a great start to the day, followed by lazy days around the pool. Good location for exploring other local towns. Staff on reception were very helpful.

Puglia totally exceeded all expectations. Stunning hilltop towns, medieval ports, impressive cathedrals, Baroque architecture, sun-bleached buildings, sandy coastline… couldn't have asked for more, (oh, and those Trulli are actually adorable!) Borgo San Marco was perfect! The staff were all incredibly friendly, our rooms were beautiful and the meals we had there were totally exquisite!
