A long weekend in Puglia

Alberobello

Helen writes: my poor husband, who endlessly up-dates and designs our website, made a comment a few weeks ago which made me realise that he’d not been to Puglia. With this in mind I called Caroline (friend, and owner of the newly refusbished Masseria Alchimia) and booked us in for a long weekend.

My brother flew in to the UK from Tuscany to look after our three children and we flew off to Bari. We spent three wonderful days wandering the streets of Ostuni, Cisternino, Alberobello and Fasano and sunned ourselves at Masseria Alchimia on the terrace of Le Terrazze. Caroline has used her style and flair to create a very beautiful, tranquil property, which I’d highly recommend to anyone looking for a long weekend in Puglia.

As usual our break turned into property viewing too, we were introduced to the owner of Pietra Luna, a lovely new B&B just outside Cisternino – we were invited to have a look around at 2pm, and after a full lunch in Cisternino we arrived to find a three course meal laid out for us. We were, of course, extremely polite and ate our second lunch of the day, which was far nicer than the first. After helping with the washing up we headed off to digest our meals back at Masseria Alchimia. We also visited several new properties over the three days, which will be added to the website shortly.

We had a fantastic meal on our last night in Fasano at Antica Fasano, tucked behind the main square – there is no menu you just have to trust the chef. Needless to say it was utterly delicious and I will return on my next visit at the end of August.
